Love Like Drew
By Jillian Miesen, Drew’s Mom
My best friend departed this world on July 8, 2023. Andrew Joseph Proehl was my first born son and so wanted and waited for. His birth was tricky – as I was a diabetic mom.
He never followed the textbook development, but that’s what made him so special. He was the family peacemaker, with a wicked sense of odd humor.
He loved adventure through and through, and he was a riot to be around, albeit not easy to raise as a child. However, he was the easiest person to be with.
He loved generously, he did not judge, and he was not discriminate in who deserved his attention.
He was smart as a whip, but he would not let you know that until he felt it was time.
He always took the route less traveled, never the easy way or the traditional way. But he always had fun and always learned.

I was never so proud of any one in my life as I was my son. He was respectful, lighthearted, and so caring and tender.
I know that God got a good one and that he is our angel now – probably making so much of a difference there, although we miss him terribly on earth. Earth lost a good guy when he died at 27 in a motorcycle accident doing what he loved best.
I hope he forever sees the green grass, mountaintops, and ocean from his vantage point.
Love you forever, Drewey, my baby you’ll be!
Love, Mom
